Sodium Propionate (CH3CH2COONa) Sodium Propionate (E281) is an effective inhibitor of the growth of certain moulds and some bacteria. It is widely employed in bread, tortillas and cakes to prevent mould and extend the regular shelf life of the product. It is easy to handle and incorporate in flour. Kemira's Sodium Propionate is available as a white agglomerate. Kemira's Sodium Propionate is an AIB approved and Kosher certified product which conforms to the U.S. Food Chemical Codex V. |
