Calcium Propionate (E282) is an effective inhibitor of the growth of certain moulds and some bacteria. It is widely employed in bread to prevent mould and extend the regular shelf life of the product.

Kemira's Calcium Propionate is available as a white powder or agglomerate. Both versions are chemically identical, and differ only in physical form. In North America, Calcium Propionate agglomerate is sold under the Probake® brand name.

Kemira's Calcium Propionate is an AIB approved, Halaal and Kosher certified product which conforms to the U.S. Food Chemical Codex V.
