Calcium Acetate (E263) is used as a growth inhibitor for certain bacteria. It is used in bread and other baked foods to prevent rope formation and to extend the shelf life.

Kemira's Calcium Acetate is available as a white powder or agglomerate. Both versions are chemically identical, and differ only in physical form.
