Enzymes Rise to the Occasion February 2006 Company Profile: International Fine Ingredients International Fine Ingredients (IFI) is perhaps less well known than that of its Chairman, Cherry Smit, a name synonymous with quality baking – both locally and internationally. IFI is the exclusive local distributor for a range of the finest enzymes available worldwide. Brands include Verdugt and AB Enzymes (including the VERON® range, which has become a household name in the industry). Cherry, like the products she helps produce, is a fresh experience. She is personally available 24 hours a day, and with her extensive technical knowledge and experience in the baking industry, clients find her an invaluable asset to their business. Marita Scheepers, recently appointed MD, is established in the industry, and is particularly well known for client service and support. She is the catalyst responsible for fruitful long-term relationships with IFI’s clients. A new addition to the IFI management team is Marsha Bartlett, who joins as shareholder and director. She brings with her an impressive track record in the baking industry. Callers to IFI are often confused when they are told they are speaking to Cherry, but hear a very different voice. Cherry Elcott (Cherry Smit’s niece) is the office administrator and shows great promise in client service and exhibits a flair for the technical demands of the test kitchen. Emzymes are particularly potent substances that leave little margin for error when in concentrated form. The IFI test kitchen plays an important role in the company, ensuring controlled simulation prior to full-scale production. IFI have recently launched AB Enzymes new range of VERON® enzymes, which include enhanced baking solutions for a wide range of breads as well as pasta. |
